The ingredients of the Afrikan Republic Black Soap are virgin palm kernel oil, pure, unrefined shea butter and lye produced from the ashes of plantain leaves and bark from a local tree called Agow. The high percentage of shea butter (48%) is one of the unique features of our soap. In addition, there are no chemicals added as preservatives, color enhancers, or fragrances.

You can make a liquid soap by filling a container loosely with the black soap and adding water to fill. The soap pieces will dissolve into the water and form a versatile liquid soap.

I suffer from hyperpigmentation as do a lot of African Americans. I have uber sensitive, uber oily skin. This is strong enough to wash my face without sucking out ALL of the oil, which makes me produce less throughout the day. My goal is to have a makeup optional face. I'm on my way with this product. As far as texture, this is the softest black soap I've come accross. Smells wonderful. You feel as though you're treating your skin.
I recently purchased the Afrikan Republic Black Soap and have been using it for about 1 week. So, far I really like it. It makes my skin soft and smooth and does not irritate my somewhat sensitive skin. At first, I was just using it on my face, but now I use it for my body as well. Last night, I even used it to shampoo my hair and it worked great! My hair felt soft, moisturized, and clean! I love this product and will continue to use it.
I have used this product for more than 6 years exclusively. I use it every morning and every night. Until recently I would cleanse my face with if every few days. However, I spent 6 days in Kansas City MO for Thanksgiving. My face became so dry (due to the cold - I'm from Savannah GA). So when I got home 9 days ago my face was covered with ruff dry patches. I started using the black soap twice a day - followed by pure Shea Butter (warmed until liquid) and applied to my face generiously twice a day. WOW! my skin is so smooth, clear and tight. My pores have been greatly reduced. The circle under my eyes and dark spots are lighter than they have been in years. According to my husband and friends I look younger. After all these years I've found my 1, 2 punch! for beautiful skin all over!
I ordered this to see if it would work for my acne and No. It has not. I have been using it for about 3 weeks straight and nothing. My dark spots are evening out but My forehead has so many little bumps on it right now its ridiculous. From my head down the sides of my face.
I've been using this soap for about a month now, and it has made a tremendous difference in my skin. Its has made it softer, smoother, decreased the size of my pores, and is beginning to clear my dark spots! Its Awesome!!
